Yes. In a typical Pacific Caregivers placement, the caregiver is employed directly by the family rather than by our agency.
As the employer, the family is responsible for providing a written employment agreement, paying the caregiver according to applicable provincial employment standards, maintaining payroll records, issuing pay statements, and making the required income tax, CPP and EI deductions and remittances.
Pacific Caregivers assists with the caregiver search and placement process, but the family and caregiver enter into the employment relationship directly. Employer requirements may differ by province, so families should ensure they understand the rules that apply in their location.
Yes, live-in caregivers may be available; however, availability is currently limited.
Recent changes to Canada’s foreign caregiver programs have reduced the number of new caregivers able to enter the country, contributing to a smaller pool of candidates for live-in positions. Pacific Caregivers is therefore currently focusing on caregivers who are already in Canada and legally authorized to work.
The federal Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots are presently closed to new applications while existing applications are processed.
Availability can change quickly. New applicants contact us regularly, and a caregiver who is available today may accept another position within a short period of time.
We encourage families to contact us as early as possible to discuss their preferred start date, location, schedule, duties, and accommodation. Although we cannot guarantee that a suitable live-in caregiver will be immediately available, we will review current applicants to determine whether there may be an appropriate match for your family.
Yes. Pacific Caregivers works with a sister company that assists Canadian families with employer-side caregiver LMIA applications.
If a family wishes to hire a caregiver who requires an employer-specific work permit, a Labour Market Impact Assessment may be required. The process can involve detailed government requirements relating to recruitment, advertising, wages, employment terms, supporting documents, and application preparation.
Through our sister company, families may receive assistance with:
Pacific Caregivers can help connect families with the appropriate team and coordinate the referral process.
Every application is assessed by Service Canada, and approval cannot be guaranteed. A positive LMIA also does not guarantee that the caregiver will receive a work permit.
Contact Pacific Caregivers to discuss your hiring needs and learn whether caregiver LMIA assistance may be appropriate for your situation.
Yes. Due to recent changes to Canada’s foreign caregiver immigration programs, Pacific Caregivers is currently focusing exclusively on caregivers who are already living in Canada and are legally eligible to work.
We are not presently recruiting caregivers from overseas. Instead, we help families connect with available caregivers in Canada whose experience, availability, work authorization, and preferences may suit the family’s care requirements.
The availability of suitable candidates varies by location, schedule, duties, and the level of care required. Please contact us to discuss your family’s needs and learn whether an appropriate caregiver may be available in your area.
Pacific Caregivers does not provide immigration advice directly. However, families and caregivers may be referred to our sister company, Apex Immigration Canada Ltd., for professional immigration guidance.
Through the appropriate licensed immigration professional, assistance may be available with matters such as:
Immigration eligibility depends on each individual’s circumstances, and no application outcome can be guaranteed.
Pacific Caregivers focuses on caregiver recruitment and placement, while immigration advice and representation are handled separately through our sister company.
The length of the placement process varies depending on the family’s location, schedule, care requirements, preferred start date, and the availability of suitable caregivers.
There is no cost to provide Pacific Caregivers with information about your job opening. We will review your family’s needs and try to identify an available caregiver whose experience, availability, and preferences may be suitable for the position.
There are no activation fees or upfront placement charges simply to begin the search. A placement fee is only payable when your family chooses to proceed with an actual caregiver placement.
Because caregiver availability can change quickly, we encourage families to contact us as early as possible. Although we cannot guarantee a specific placement timeline, we will keep you informed if a potentially suitable candidate becomes available.

The cost of in-home caregiver support varies depending on several factors, including the province, the caregiver’s experience and qualifications, the type of care required, and whether the position is live-in or live-out.
Wage rates must meet the applicable provincial employment standards, but caregivers with extensive experience, specialized training, or more complex responsibilities may expect a higher rate of pay.
Other costs may also apply, such as employer payroll contributions, vacation pay, overtime, and any agreed-upon benefits or expenses.
Because every family’s needs are different, we recommend discussing the required schedule, duties, and level of care before estimating the overall cost.
Pacific Caregivers works with families throughout most of Canada.
Our ability to assist depends on the family’s location, the availability of suitable caregivers, provincial employment requirements, and the specific needs of the position. In some regions—particularly remote or difficult-to-access communities—caregiver availability may be more limited.
Because new applicants contact us regularly, availability can change quickly. We encourage families from across Canada to contact us so we can review their location, care requirements, schedule, and preferred start date.
Although we cannot guarantee that a suitable caregiver will be available in every community, we will be pleased to explore the options for your family.
Tell us what your family needs — we’ll help you find the right caregiver.
